Summary
A single-stage method of percutaneous removal of gallstones is presented which was adapted from our experience with percutaneous nephrolithotomy. It is performed under general anesthesia using ultrasound and fluoroscopic control. The overall success rate of 90 per cent and the fact that any stone, irrespective of its size or composition may be treated, firmly establishes this method as an important addition to the modern methods of treating gallstones.
