Abstract
An overview of the literature on olfactory hallucinations is followed by the description
of a case history of "isolated olfactory hallucinosis" compared to two other case
histories in which olfactory hallucinations were present.
Some psychopathological features of the "isolated olfactory hallucinosis" suggest
the possibility that this disorder might be considered as a nosological entity distinct
from the endogenous psychoses, mainly from schizophrenia, where olfactory hallucinations
have been shown to occur not very seldom.
Differences regarding the response to psychopharmacotherapy and the prognosis justify
an attempt to differentiate the "isolated olfactory hallucinosis" from the endogenous
psychoses.
Zusammenfassung
Im Anschluß an eine ausführliche Literaturübersicht wird ein Fall einer ,,Eigengeruchshalluzinose"
beschrieben und mit zwei Fällen einer endogenen Psychose mit Geruchstrugwahrnehmungen
verglichen.
Die psychopathologische Untersuchung dieser Fälle führt zu der Annahme der nosologischen
Eigenständigkeit des Krankheitsbildes der Eigengeruchshalluzinose und ihrer differentialdiagnostischen
Abgrenzbarkeit zu Geruchstrugwahrnehmungen bei endogenen Psychosen.
Eine subtile Differentialdiagnose der Geruchshalluzinationen erscheint wegen der Unterschiede
für Therapie und Prognose von Bedeutung.
