Abstract
The essential oil obtained by hydrodistillation from fresh leaves of Hyptis pectinata L. Poit, a medicinal plant from western Africa, was examined by gas chromatography.
Thirty-two constituents were identified. Monoterpenes predominate, with large amounts
of p-cymene and thymol (more than 60%) as well as γ-terpinene, α-thujene, and mycrene.
