In addition to the known glycosides, digitoxigenin-3-O-β-D-glucosyl-(1→4)-3′-O-acetyl-β-D-digitoxoside (= 3′-O-acetylglucoevatromonoside) has been isolated as the main major glycoside from the seeds of Digitalis cariensis and its structure elucidated by chemical evidence and FAB-MS. Digitalinum verum, glucogitoroside, glucoevatromonoside, and glucoverodoxine were isolated as the other major glycosides of the seeds, along with gitorocellobioside, gitostin, and neogitostin. Eight further primary glycosides present in the seeds in small amounts were also identified.
