Abstract
The amount and composition of the essential oil of Cymbopogon flexuosus (lemongrass) leaves at different positions in the tiller and at different developmental
stages were investigated. The results showed that only young leaves are biogenetically
active, and that the leafage and leaf position are important factors for the amount
and composition of the essential oil. The results obtained also indicated possible
interconversions of the essential oil constituents in vivo.
