Abstract

Two new bidesmosidic saponins, esculentoside L and K isolated from the roots of Phytolacca esculenta, were identified as 3-O-[β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→4)- β-D-xylopyranosyl]-28-O-β-D-glucopyranosylphytolaccagenic acid and 3-O-[β-D-glucopyranosyl(1→4)-β-D-xylopyranosyl (1→4)-β-D-glucopyranosyl]-28-O-β-D-glucopyranosylphytolaccagenic acid, respectively.
