Das IZP stellt sich vor - Palliativmedizin: Aufgabe aller Ärzte

Zusammenfassung

Das Interdisziplinäre Zentrum für Palliativmedizin (IZP) des Klinikums der Universität München wird gemeinsam von der Klinik für Anästhesiologie, der Medizinischen Klinik III und der Neurologischen Klinik getragen. Die Leitung des Zentrums rotiert alle drei Jahre, sie betreut eine Palliativstation mit zehn Betten, einen multiprofessionellen palliativmedizinischen Konsiliardienst und die Christophorus-Akademie für Palliativmedizin, Palliativpflege und Hospizarbeit. Schwerpunkt der klinischen Arbeit ist die interdisziplinäre und multiprofessionelle Betreuung schwerstkranker Patienten und ihrer Familien in Krisensituationen - mit dem Ziel, die Patienten zu stabilisieren und nach Hause zu entlassen oder in ein stationäres Hospiz zu überweisen. Die Forschungsaktivitäten des Zentrums erstrecken sich auf die Bereiche Lebensqualität, Symptomkontrolle, nichtonkologische Erkrankungen, Versorgungsforschung, Entscheidungen am Lebensende und der medizinischen Weiterbildung. Die Universität München hat als erste Universität in Deutschland die Palliativmedizin als Pflichtlehr- und Prüfungsfach eingeführt. Darüber hinaus führt die Christophorus-Akademie Qualifizierungskurse für alle an der Palliativbetreuung beteiligten Berufsgruppen durch. Weitere Initiativen des Interdisziplinären Zentrums für Palliativmedizin betreffen die Bereiche Spiritualität, Patientenverfügungen und pädiatrische Palliativmedizin. Primäres Ziel ist die Vermehrung und möglichst breite Weitergabe von palliativmedizinischem Wissen, denn Palliativmedizin ist Aufgabe aller Ärzte.

Summary

The Interdisciplinary Center for Palliative Medicine (IZP) of the Munich University Hospital ist the result of a cooperation between the departments of anaesthesiology, neurology and oncology. The leadership of the center rotates every three years. The IZP comprises an inpatient unit with ten beds, a consult service and the Christophorus Academy for Palliative Medicine, Palliative Nursing and Hospice Care. The focus of the clinical work is the interdisciplinary and multiprofessional care of severely ill patients and their families in critical situations, with the aim of a discharge home or to an inpatient hospice. The research activities of the IZP focus on the following topics: quality of life, symptom control, non-oncological disorders, service provision, end-of-life decisions, and medical education. The University of Munich has introduced Palliative Medicine as a core curriculum subject, for the first time in Germany. In addition, the Christophorus Academy organizes courses for all professions involved in palliative care. Further initiatives of the IZP have been started in the areas of spirituality, advance directives, and pediatric palliative medicine. The primary goal of the IZP is the increase and wide dissemination of palliative care know-how, since palliative medicine is a task for every physician.
