Summary
Age was associated with poor functional outcomes and institutionalization. Males were more likely to die and less likely to be institutionalized. Additionally, anemia, hemoglobin levels, cognitive function and hospital discharge with active clinical issues were associated with mortality. Prefracture function and mobility, delirium on admission, coexisting disease, clinical issues and complications appear to influence recovery of function and mobility. Increased hospital length of stay was associated with lower admission hemoglobin and anemia.
