Der Ansatz der Gruppe „A Meaningful Day” (Bewusst leben) bei Gewichtszunahme durch Neuroleptika

Die medikamentöse Behandlung von Klienten mit ernsthaften und langfristigen psychischen Gesundheitsproblemen erfolgt in erster Linie durch Neuroleptika. Die schädigenden Nebenwirkungen dieser Medikamente sind wohl bekannt und können zu einer Unterbrechung der Therapie führen. Auch wenn die neueren atypischen Neuroleptika klare Vorteile gegenüber den klassischen Substanzen zu haben scheinen, kann es zu einer bedeutenden Gewichtszunahme kommen. Die Gruppe „Meaningful Day” ist ein Versuch, mithilfe psychosozialer Ansätze an den Vorteilen weiterzuarbeiten. Der vorliegende Text beschreibt den Aufbau einer solchen Gruppe und untersucht die Ergebnisse. Sie wurde von einem Hersteller atypischer Neuroleptika aufgrund der beunruhigenden Nebenwirkungen ins Leben gerufen.
