Substitutionsmittel und Beikonsum bei Opiatabhängigen

Zusammenfassung

Anliegen: Ziel der Studie ist es, den Zusammenhang zwischen zwei der in Österreich am häufigsten verwendeten Substitutionsmedikamenten (Methadon und retardiertes Morphin) und dem Konsumverhalten Opiatabhängiger unter realen Versorgungsbedingungen zu untersuchen. Patienten: Eine klinische Stichprobe von opiatabhängigen Patienten in Entzugsbehandlung (n = 191) wurde über ihre Konsumgewohnheiten während der letzten 6 Monate vor der Aufnahme in eine Entzugsbehandlung befragt. Ergebnisse: Die mit retardierten Morphinen substituierten Patient/Innen gaben einen geringeren Beikonsum von Heroin (22,4 % vs. 35,1 %), Kokain (40,9 % vs. 58,3 %) und Benzodiazepinen (74,1 % vs. 88,9 %) als die mit Methadon substituierten Patient/Innen an. Schlussfolgerungen: Die Ergebnisse bestätigen erste Studien über einen reduzierten Zusatzkonsum in der Substitutionsbehandlung mit retardierten Morphinen sowie deren große Akzeptanz durch Opiatabhängige.

Abstract

Objective: Comparision of patients receiving methadone or slow-release morphine in substitution treatment with regard to possible differential patterns of additional consumption of legal and illegal drugs. Methods: Patients (n = 191; methadone: n = 37; slow-release morphine: n = 116; buprenorphine: n = 14; codeine: n = 2), before entering a drug detoxification treatment program, were asked about their drug consumption habits during the last 6 months. Due to the exploratory character of the study, only descriptive statistics have been applied. Results: Patients receiving slow-release morphine in substitution treatment reported lower rates of additional heroine (22.4 % vs. 35.1 %), cocaine (40.9 % vs. 58.3 %) and benzodiazepine (74.1 % vs. 88.9 %) consumption than those receiving methadone. Due to small group sizes, rates for patients receiving buprenorphine or codein were not interpreted. Conclusions: The findings support other studies that slow-release morphine might offer an alternative in substitution treatment that is higly appreciated by patients.
