Stroke after cardiac surgery is a devastating complication. We report a case of incidental
diagnosis of a left ventricular thrombus in a patient scheduled to undergo coronary
artery bypass grafting. The preoperative diagnosis of an apical left ventricular thrombus
was assessed by a novel, whole body MRI-angiography technique (TIMRA), which led to
alteration of the operative approach as an additional thrombectomy was performed through
an apical left ventriculotomy.
