(ISS) entwickelt.
Abstract
Prevention and treatment of congenital toxoplasmosis are still a matter of debate
and there is no consensus about antenatal screening and diagnostic tests. The management
of this infection during pregnancy requires a multidisciplinary approach. Nowadays,
there is a need for accurate diagnostic tests and national epidemiologic data on this
infection in order to establish a proper and cost-effective protocol for its diagnosis,
treatment, and follow-up. We report our experience of a regional model set up using
a multidisciplinary approach for the prenatal diagnosis of congenital toxoplasmosis.
The model was designed on the basis of the National Guidelines of the Istituto Superiore
di Sanità (ISS).
