Prophylaxe in der Schwangerschaft und im Kleinkindalter
Prevention in Pregnancy and for FoddlersPublication History
Publication Date:
14 April 2005 (online)

Summary
Focus of preventive measures during pregnancy is the gingivitis caused by hormone-related changes, the caries risk caused by changes in saliva composition and the risk of erosion following frequent vomiting. Professional tooth cleaning, application of chlorhexidine - and fluoride containing preparations supporting dental care at home do not only ensure the periodontal and dental health they also make the pregnant women sensitive to the dental health of her child. The prevention of the early childhood caries by avoidance of dietary mistakes like the excessive consumption of sugar containing drinks via baby bottle and the motivation of the parents for practicing the daily tooth cleaning with a fluoridated tooth paste have priority.
