Advanced Ultrasound in Diagnosis of Men Breast Diseases
Problemstellung: To analyze the possibilities of breast ultrasound and evaluation of ultrasound findings in men with breast diseases.
Methode: 177 men from 14 to 68 years old, with breast diffuse enlargement and palpable changes have been investigated. The investigations have been carried out in the ‘David Tatishvili Medical Center’ on ultrasound systems Siemens Sonoline Antares, Siemens Sonoline Elegra, Acuson Aspen with high frequency transducers (7,5–13 M Hz), also with Sonosite systems (7,5MHz) in different regions of Georgia (Kutaisi, Marneuli, Borjomi, Telavi, Batumi) were used.
Ergebnisse: 133 patients had undergone three time verification of the diagnosis (mammography, FNA and histology of surgical materials, in case if patients condition required surgical treatment). Ultrasound identified: true gynecomasthy in 96 (55%) cases, 25 (14%) false gynecomasthy (augmentation of fat tissue), 28 (16%) lipoma; 5 (3%) haemangioma, atheroma 7 (4%), cancer 16 (9%). Among them in 14 (15%) cases of true gynecomasthy the findings were bilateral and in 82 (85%) unilateral. Nodular gynecomasthy was identified in 24 (25%) cases and diffuse – in 72 (75%).
Schlussfolgerung: Ultrasound imaging with newest program supplement and with multidimensional, high frequency transducers gives opportunity of identification and differential diagnosis of men benign and malignant masses, particularly identification of palpable and non palpable lesions and also ultrasound imaging estimations during men gynecomasthy treatment.
