Summary
There is moderate evidence to support the use of internal screw fixation for treating nondisplaced scaphoid fractures in lieu of using cast immobilization. It appears that patients receiving internal screw fixation may heal at a quicker rate and return to work sooner than patients receiving cast immobilization. It's unclear how effective they are at their job or whether the early return to work in the operative group causes any functional limitations.
