Abstract
Prurigo pigmentosa is a rare dermatosis, first described in 1971 in Japan. It is clinically
characterized by the sudden onset of reticularly arranged, intensely itching reddish
papules located on the upper part of the trunc. The inflammation leaves reticular
hyperpigmentation. We report on an 18-year-old Turkish patient who developed prurigo
pigmentosa on the back. He was successfully treated with minocycline and no recurrence
has been observed since then.
