Introduction:

We examined the psychometric properties of a new observer rated anxiety scale (BOEAS) and a new patient questionnaire (DANDTE) in relation to the HAMA.

Results:

299 outpatients were examined. In the BOEAS we observed a response rate of 47%, in the DANDTE between 51 and 57%, these were not different to the HAMA rates The validity of the new scales was high: 0.80 for the BOEAS (0.01%) and up to 0.755 (0.01%) for the DANDTE. The retest – reliabilty for both scales was over 0.7 (0.01%) .

Summary:

The new scales have good psychometric properties, provide more information about anxiety and were able to test the clinical improvement in psychopharmacological treatment.
