Methods:

From 480 Patient, who were treated psychopharmacollogically between 1992 and 1998 in our anxiety outpatient unit, we examined a representative sample of 86 patients .

We studied the efficacy of this treatment with HAMA, CGI, CGI improvement and with the new patient questionaire DANDTE for measurement depressive and anxious symptoms.

Results:

The middle of the katamnestic period was 33 months, 51,3% felt healthy in this period

We were able to establish four prognostic factors: HAMA (0,005) and CGI improvement (0,039)

at the end of the acute treatment and duration of illness (0,041) .

Summary:

This study demonstrates, that patients with severe anxiety disorders can be treated very effectively

through a purely pharmacological treatrment and also have a good prognoses.
