ABSTRACT

Traumatic injury continues to present a challenge to the health care system in the United States, accounting for more deaths in children and young adults than any other cause. Neurological trauma accounts for almost one half of all traumatic deaths. Interventional radiological techniques, particularly embolization, can serve as definitive and life-saving measures in many circumstances. This article reviews diagnostic angiographic techniques and findings, as well as interventions, in the neurological trauma population.
