ABSTRACT

Power-assisted liposuction is a new technology developed to lessen surgeon fatigue and enhance a surgeon's ability to achieve improved contour and shape. This article represents an evaluation of the systems currently available. The availability of interchangeable cannulas, handle ergonomics, vibration, and sound generation is discussed. The similarities and differences of these systems are also reviewed as well as experience with the systems. It appears that power-assisted liposuction devices are safe and possibly more effective than traditional techniques for fat removal.
