Wirkung eines Extrakts aus E. coli[1] bei Strahlen- und Chemotherapie

Zusammenfassung

Schleimhautschädigungen treten nicht nur bei chronisch-entzündlichen Darmerkrankungen, nach Antibiotikatherapie sowie bei Allergien auf, sondern auch infolge von Strahlen- und Chemotherapie. Durch eine Stabilisierung der Darmschleimhaut und eine Wiederherstellung eines gesunden Darmmilieus können diese Erkrankungen gelindert oder geheilt werden.

Erfolgversprechende Pilotstudien zeigten nicht nur eine eindeutige Verbesserung von schwerwiegenden Beeinträchtigungen nach einer Strahlentherapie, sondern auch ein vermindertes Auftreten von Schleimhautläsionen (Stomatiden, Diarrhöen) und Leukopenien bei PatientInnen mit gastrointestinalen Karzinomen und Brustkrebs unter einer Chemotherapie kombiniert mit Extrakt aus E. coli. Diese Ergebnisse konnten in einer randomisierten, doppelblinden, placebokontrollierten Phase-III-Studie zur Behandlung des fortgeschrittenen kolorektalen Karzinoms bestätigt werden.

Abstract

Lesions of the intestinal lining are not the only cause of idiopathic inflammatory bowel diseases, antibiotical therapy or allergies but cytostatic agents or radiation as well. Through stabilisation of the intestinal mucous membrane and restoration of a physiologic intestinal ecology it is possible to alleviate or cure these diseases.

Promising pilot studies not only showed the clear improvement of serious impairments after radiation therapy but the reduction of lesions of the intestinal lining (mucositis, diarrhea) and leucopenia in patients with gastrointestinal and mamma carcinoma under chemotherapy combined with E. coli extract. These results were confirmed in a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled phase-III-study of progressive colorectal carcinoma.
