Abstract
The Dialectical Behavioral Therapie (DBT) was developed by Marsha Linehan specifically for the treatment of chronically suicidal patients with borderline-personality disorder. It is based on the assumption of a biosocial origin of BPS and works with cognitve-behavioral patterns, skillstraining and specific dialectical interventions. Since the beginning of 1998 BPS-patients are being treated on the closed admission ward of the department for psychotherapy and addiction-treatment according to the regulations of in-patient-DBT. We will describe the swift installation of in-patient-DBT in a regional psychiatric hospital with the support of the University of Freiburg. We will then describe the structural presuppositions, the indications, different therapy elements and the first outline of case studies and temporary results.
