Cholestatic hepatitis A complicated by acute renal insufficiency

Summary

31 cases of non-fulminant hepatitis A complicated by acute renal insufficiency are reported in the literature. Two-thirds of those patients needed dialysis, usually when depending on the severity of their hyperbilirubinemia.

This report concerns the first published case of non-fulminant cholestatic hepatitis A complicated by acute renal insufficiency in which a spontaneous remission of renal function occurred without need for dialysis despite a very severe hyperbilirubinemia.

Mit akuter Niereninsuffizienz einhergehende, cholestatisch verlaufende Hepatitis A

In der Literatur sind 31 Fälle von nichtfulminanter Hepatitis A beschrieben worden, die mit einer akuten Niereninsuffizienz einhergegangen sind. 2 Drittel dieser Patienten benötigten jeweils in Abhängigkeit vom Schweregrad der Hyperbilirubinämie ein Nierenersatzverfahren.

Wir berichten im Folgenden über den ersten publizierten Fall einer nichtfulminanten cholestatischen Hepatitis A, der durch eine akute Niereninsuffizienz kompliziert war, wobei sich allerdings die Nierenfunktion trotz einer sehr schweren Hyperbilirubinämie spontan wieder erholte, ohne dass ein Nierenersatzverfahren notwendig geworden wäre.
