Zusammenfassung
Dieses Manual soll dabei helfen, durch ein besseres Verständnis manischen Verhaltens
und durch die Reflexion der eigenen Reaktionen einen Umgang mit manisch Kranken zu
entwickeln, der die Stabilisierung fördert. Manisches Denken drückt das Bedürfnis
aus, auf vielfältige Weise mit der ganzen Welt verbunden zu sein. Gleichzeitig wird
den Bedürfnissen des Gegenübers (Angehöriger, Therapeut, Pflegekraft) keine Aufmerksamkeit
geschenkt. Ein Vergleich zwischen den Strategien, die auch gesunde Menschen nutzen,
um ihr Befinden zu verbessern, und den Symptomen der Manie macht verständlich, dass
manische Symptome zum Teil der Stimmungsmodulation dienen. Sie helfen, die brüchig
werdende Hochstimmung aufrechtzuerhalten. Dieses Verständnis ermöglicht neue Formen
der Verständigung mit manisch Kranken über therapeutische Vorgehensweisen und Grenzsetzungen
und dient auch als Grundlage für Familiengespräche.
This brief manual is intended to facilitate a better understanding of manic behaviour
and to develop the ability to perceive and reflect on one's own reactions to patients
with mania, thus contributing to the treatment process. Manic thinking reflects the
patient's preoccupation with being connected to the world in multiple ways. Simultaneously,
patients tend to pay little attention to the needs of others (family members, the
therapist, nurses etc.), who may feel neglected as a result. A comparison of strategies
used by healthy individuals to improve their sense of well being and the symptoms
of mania allows the conclusion that manic symptoms help to modify the patient's mood.
This approach to understanding the symptoms of mania enables one to develop new ways
of communicating with patients suffering from mania and discuss therapeutic strategies,
including the restrictions associated with treatment. This approach to understanding
symptoms may also be helpful when speaking with the patient's family.
