ABSTRACT

The anatomy of the kidney is discussed with emphasis on points of interest to the interventionalist. A very brief review of the embryologic development of the kidney is provided as background for the discussion on gross anatomic considerations and variations in anatomy as they pertain to position and number. Renal vascular anatomy is discussed, including venous and arterial variants.
