The top-half fragment (C14-C25) of amphidinolide B, a potent cytotoxic macrolide isolated from the marine dinoflagellate Amphidinium sp., has been synthesized using a coupling reaction of iodide 16 corresponding to the C14-C19 part and α,β-unsaturated dithioacetal 9 possessing the remaining carbon framework (C20-C25) as the key step.
