Alkynylcarbene complexes, (CO)5M=C(OEt)-C≡CPh 4 (M = Cr, W), react with cyclic enamines, ~CH=C(NR2)~ 7, 9, 11 and 13 (NR2 = NMe2, pyrrolidine), to afford cyclopentadiene annulation products 8, 10, 12 and 14 by an overall [3+2] cycloaddition.
