Disilanyl groups are readily converted to hydroxy group by quite simple one-pot operation including treatment with tetrabutylammonium fluoride (TBAF) followed by oxidation. Synthetic utility of the new, stable hydroxy equivalent was demonstrated by synthesis of 5-membered cyclic ketones via annulation of allenyldisilanes with α,β-unsaturated ketones.
