A short enantio- and diastereoselective synthesis of (+)-methyl epijasmonate 1 and (-)-methyl curcurbate 2, two essential components of jasmin oil is described. The key step is a nickel catalyzed ring closure, which sets up three chiral centers with high diastereoselectivity.
