The cross-coupling reaction between (E) or (Z)-alkenyl iodides and alkyl (aryl) copper-zinc reagents (RCu(CN)Znl) in NMP at 60 °C for 12 h produces polyfunctional alkenes with complete retention of the configuration of the double bond in good yields.
