Dibutyltin dihalides act as versatile catalysis in combination with hexamethylphosphoric triamide (HMPT) for the reaction of allyltributyltin and α-halo ketones, furnishing the corresponding allyloxiranes in good yield; a palladium catalyst, which is generally used, is not required.
