Lithiation of η6-1-triisopropylsiloxy-3-methoxybenzene-tricarbonylchromium(0) with butyllithium occurred at C-2 and not at C-4 as expected. If the C-2 site was blocked (by a triisopropylsilyl group), C-4 lithiation/prenylation was observed, but no further ring or side-chain ithiation was possible.
