Esters are converted into β-alkoxy-substituted alkenylsilanes (7 examples) by means of the reagent prepared from dibromomethyltrimethylsilane, zinc, titanium(IV) chloride, and N,N,N′ ,N′ -tetramethylethylenediamine (TMEDA). β-Alkylthio-substitued alkenylsilanes (3 examples) are also produced from thioesters.
