Infantile Hemangioma Treated with Homeopathic Medicine Calcarea fluorica: A Case Report
Authors
Abstract
Infantile hemangiomas (IHs) are the most common benign vascular tumors in infants, present at birth or appear within the first few months, as strawberry marks. Even while hemangiomas usually disappear on their own, a tiny minority do not. Treatment usually involves medication, surgery, or laser therapy; typically given throughout childhood, but these may have some adverse effects. Homoeopathy is a reasonable alternative to consider in these situations. This is a case of an 8-month-old female child with IH on the right upper eyelid, which completely resolved within 9 months with Calcarea fluorica. Progress was assessed using the Hemangioma Severity Scale, and photographs of the lesion were taken during treatment to monitor improvement. Regular follow-ups were performed to look for any recurrence. To attribute the clinical outcome to the homeopathic remedy administered, Modified Naranjo Criteria in Homoeopathy (MONARCH) score was used, with the final score of +7 likely indicating the positive role of homeopathic medicine in curing this condition. This case study shows the role of homeopathic medication in treating IHs without causing any side effects.
