I have looked forward to every new MarkeTrak all the way back to 1989 when the survey results were first published. The MarkeTrak reports used to be numbered but starting in 2022 the group added the year. MarkeTrak 2025 does not disappoint. MarkeTrak 2022 was entitled “Insights into the Evolving Hearing Market.” With MarkeTrak 2025, we have “Consumer Perspectives on Hearing Health in an Evolving Market.” This is the secret sauce of MarkeTrak—it is the source where we can access consumer-reported behavior. We have all been reading articles that complain that there is no consumer product industry requirement to report data related to consumers pursuing over-the-counter (OTC) hearing aids and the behavior around this area. These authors offer reasonable assumptions about what has been happening, but these are not data informed, admittedly so. Now we have data. MarkeTrak 2025 walks us through hearing aid adoption rate in the OTC hearing aid era and we find data related to satisfaction as a function of device type/care pathway. We are treated with data from both MarkeTrak 2025 and EuroTrak to discuss global hearing aid trends.

It is especially rewarding to see outstanding authors returning from MarkeTrak 2022, including Erin Picou, Lindsey Jorgenson, Ian Windmill, Janette Kihm, and Tom Powers. This provides perspectives over time. And we welcome some new voices and perspectives with Bridget Dobyan, Haiping Huang, and Anna Jilla.

Whether you are a clinician, student, or researcher, MarkeTrak 2025 has the information you need to move forward with your work in an informed manner. Having consumer perspectives informs us in a unique and powerful way and has the potential to improve hearing health care in all of its many forms.
