Water-jet technique for diagnostic EUS
Authors
Abstract Text Diagnostic EUS is a cornerstone tool for workup of digestive sub-epithelial lesions (SEL) and peri-ampullary region. Water or other fluid can be injected through the therapeutic channel using syringe. This method improves digestive wall visualization by air expelling and improving US wave propragation, decreases artifacts and avoids compression of the region of interest. However, this method is cumbersome since it needs an assistant to reload syringes, and the rate of flow is not continuous. A continuous high speed water filling can be obtained by directly connecting the echoendoscope to the endoscopic flushing pump using classical infusion catheter. This allows quick and continuous digestive lumen filling by water for SEL localization and examination, without gaz injection. We present 2cases of SEL and 1ampulloma suspicion of which investigation by EUS was facilated by water-jet technic use [1] [2] [3] [4].
