Extended Endoscopic Endonasal Approach with Odontoidectomy in a Patient Presenting with Unstable Pathological Type 2 Fracture, Retropharyngeal Abscess, and Cervical-Medullary Compression
We describe a novel extended endoscopic transnasal odontoidectomy in a 56-year-old female chronic smoker presenting with a history of low-grade fever, neck discomfort, and swelling for the past 3 months. On examination, she had mild spasticity in both lower limbs. She underwent odontoidectomy with phlegmon removal and CVJ decompression. Postoperatively, there was a remarkable improvement in spasticity. Pathology revealed acute on chronic osteomyelitis. O-C4 fusion was performed post-antibiotics course.
