Abstract

In Germany there is a high incidence for atopic diseases - with a progressive tendency. The number of studies on the prevention of these diseases - which severely influence the quality of life of the affected children and families - by means of omega-3 fatty acids is overwhelming. The gynecological recommendations for an omega-3 supply in the case of pregnant and nursing women are useful, but have hardly been implemented. The optimum dose is probably higher than the dose recommended in the guideline.
