Unstable Elbow-Skin Shortage a Stabilising Factor

Summary
A 56-year old patient had his elbow trapped in his turned over car 21 years ago. The lower articular surfaces of the humerus were grossly comminuted and just fell out during dressings. The bone gap was large. The large raw area was covered with skin graft which only partially survived. Healing occurred by scarification and development of contracture. The contracted grafted area stabilized the joint which is still functional.
