Hand hygiene has become almost a household word to many classes of the community during coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. The other day I saw a boy of 5 years pressing the button of elevator with his tiny elbow. The pandemic gave an opportunity to adopt many appropriate changes in the behaviour of people called as COVID-19-appropriate behaviour. Hand hygiene, physical distancing, use of face mask, cough etiquettes, good bye to handshakes were some of them which were enforced or learnt during this period. Clinical hand washing has prevented millions of deaths of humankind. Global hand washing day is celebrated on 15th October every year.
