Peripheral Vascular Interventions in Gaza Strip, the Start and Ambition: Descriptive Study and Case

Introduction: Gaza strip has a major lack of supplies owing to many factors especially the Israeli blockade. In our study we demonstrated the limitations and the successful solutions that were implemented to overcome the challenges in delivering an appropriate endovascular intervention for needy patients.

Method(s): Retrospective descriptive study was conducted and included the main challenges and accomplished cases at our institutions in Gaza strip. A total number of 163 cases underwent different endovascular interventions at different vascular levels were reported.

Result(s): The implemented system provided care for hundreds of needy patients in terms of diagnostic and therapeutic endovascular interventions. This include 78 cases of below inguinal stenting and ballooning, 38 cases for aorto-iliac interventions, 22 cases of embolization, 23 cases of central venoplasty, and 2 EVAR.

Conclusion(s): Our results showed improved access of patients in need for endovascular intervention in Gaza strip with successful end results that offered limb and life salvage solutions.
