Background: Massive upper gastrointestinal bleeds associated with gastric gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) are rare. Surgical treatment is problematic with high risk for older patients and inoperable tumors. We report a case of an endovascular embolization for UGI bleeding in GIST tumor.

Case: A 76-year-old female patient with a known history of inoperable large gastric GIST tumor presented with massive upper GI bleeding with sign of shock. After resuscitation in the ICU, she underwent endovascular mesenteric angiogram, showed hyper-vascular blush from left gastric artery, then super-selective catheterization by microcatheter reaching distally to small feeder artery with active extravasation, then embolization done using liquid embolic agent.

Discussion: In conclusion, this case suggests the role of endovascular embolization for life saving medical emergencies with visceral tumors.
