Die zur Verfügung stehenden Behandlungsmethoden des equinen Sarkoids sind bis heute nicht ausreichend und führen meist zu unbefriedigenden Ergebnissen. Entweder limitieren sich die therapeutischen Maßnahmen wegen ungünstiger Lokalisationen der Sarkoide schon im Voraus oder es kommt zu Rezidiven. Auch Nebenwirkungen bzw. Komplikationen sind nicht selten. Die Misteltherapie stellt hier eine probate Therapiemöglichkeit ohne starke Nebenwirkungen dar.
