Abstract

The different treatment options for edentulous jaws with implant-retained overdentures (IODs) are discussed in literature permanently. Dental experts and associations have published different studies, statements, and guidelines how to treat edentulous patients with IODs, especially concerning the number of implants, the implant position, and the use of different types of attachment systems. The aim of this study was to analyze and to summarize relevant literature and to rate the literature concerning their evidence.
