Erfolgreiche Lokaltherapie des Granuloma pyogenicum mit Imiquimod 5 %

Zusammenfassung

Bei dem Granuloma pyogenicum handelt es sich um einen häufigen, schnell wachsenden und sehr vulnerablen Tumor der Haut oder der Schleimhäute, der bevorzugt im Kindesalter oder der Gravidität auftritt. Es stehen verschiedene operative und nicht operative Therapieverfahren zur Verfügung.

Topisches Imiquimod ist ein Immunmodulator mit antiviralen und antitumoralen Eigenschaften. Die zusätzliche Wirkung als Inhibitor der Angiogenese könnte die Effektivität bei der Behandlung des Granuloma pyogenicum erklären.

Wir berichten über die erfolgreiche und nebenwirkungsarme Therapie mit Imiquimod 5 % (Aldara^® 5 %-Creme) bei zwei Patienten ohne nachfolgende Tumorrezidive.

Abstract

Pyogenic granuloma is a very common condition, especially during pregnancy or childhood. It is an acquired, benign, rapidly evolving vascular tumor of the skin or mucous membranes.

Available treatment options include surgical removal with primary closure, shave excision, laserablation or intralesional and topical treatments. Topical imiquimod 5 % is a potent antiviral and antitumor immunmodulator. The anti-angiogenic effect of imiquimod may explain its effect on vascular tumors.

We report the successful treatment of two patients with pyogenic granuloma using topical imiquimod 5 %. The therapy was well tolerated without recurrence.
