Abstract: Paragangliomas are derived from neural crest cells and are normally found in association with autonomic nervous system structures. Extra-adrenal paragangliomas are referred to as glomus tumors. Paragangliomas in the temporal bone that arise along the tympanic plexus of the Arnold's and Jacobson's nerves are called tympanic paragangliomas or glomus tympanicum (GT). A retrospective medical records review was done from April 2009 to April 2021. All patients diagnosed with GT tumors (Grades 1–3) are operated in our ENT department. We reviewed the data of these patients with respect to age, gender, presenting complaints, duration of the symptoms and the treatment protocol employed. We also studied the follow-up, outcome of treatment, and complications. Our experience shows that grades 1–3 GT tumors can be surgically excised without the need of preoperative embolization, and this gives satisfactory outcome with respect to tumor control and amelioration of symptoms.
