Abstract
The adhesive technique in orthodontics is the gold standard for bonding brackets. There is often flash that remains around the bracket-tooth interface and needs to be removed. This promotes the formation of plaque, gingivitis and the development of white spot lesions. Attempts to minimize the amount of flash, have led to the creation of adhesive precoated brackets. The company 3 M Unitek (Monrovia, California) has developed a new APCTM Fash Free Adhesive coated appliance system as an attempt to eliminate the need for flash removal. The present article deals with the scientific background and the clinical management of this system.
