Hintergrund

Treatment outcomes of empyema Stage 3 have been described in the literature over the years. However, surgical outcomes in patients with concurrent lobe destruction, where an additional lobectomy is needed, are not well reported, despite an existing incidence up to 20%. We assessed our results with lobectomy plus decortication (LD) in comparison with decortication alone (D).
