Hintergrund

Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES) is a rare syndrome characterized by neurological symptoms including headache, seizure, altered level of consciousness and visual abnormalities, which can occur under immunosuppressive therapy – especially with tacrolimus – after organ transplantation. It is diagnosed with MRI of the brain, which shows vasogenic edema of the white matter, typically located bilaterally in the occipital and parietal lobes supplied by posterior circulation.
