The Guest Editor of this issue of Seminars in Neurology is Dr. Shamik Bhattacharyya.

Dr. Bhattacharyya is an Assistant Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School, and an Associate Neurologist at the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. He received his BS in molecular biophysics and biochemistry from Yale University, summa cum laude, and his MD from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He was an intern in Internal Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital, and a Resident in Neurology at the combined Massachusetts General Hospital–Brigham and Women's Neurology Residency Program. This was followed by his Multiple Sclerosis Fellowship at the Partners Multiple Sclerosis Center at the Brigham and Women's Hospital. He is Chief of the Division of Spinal Cord Disorders at the Brigham and Women's Hospital. He has served as Director for multiple American Academy of Neurology courses on neuroimaging and neurorheumatology, and is clearly seen as a leader in the field. His research has focused on multiple sclerosis and autoimmune disease, and he also has received educational grants for his efforts to identify and address gaps in neurological education for those outside of neurology as their primary specialty. He is a revered teacher and a mentor to many, and as a specialist in spinal cord disorders, he is a rare but valuable bird!

We greatly appreciate the efforts of Dr. Bhattacharyya, as well as all of the contributing authors, for their wonderful work in this issue of Seminars in Neurology on myelopathy, an issue that is going to directly address a perceived weak spot for many, if not for most practicing neurologists. I have personally learned a great deal from the comprehensive and insightful articles that provide up-to-date, clearly written reviews on a variety of spinal cord diseases, and am grateful to the thoughtful and prudent guest editorship that Dr. Bhattacharyya provided for this issue. We hope you enjoy this wonderful issue!
